What is the best and cheapest way to add freon to your 2003 Ford Escape?

I have a 2003 Ford Escape XLT. Recently, the air conditioning has started taking a little longer to cool down the car. The air flow just doesn't seem as cold as it usually does. After driving for a short while, the air finally gets cold. Does this mean that the vehicle needs more freon? The air conditioner has never been serviced, so is this a possibility? How much does it cost? Where is the best and cheapest place to have this done? Thanks!

The extended warranty on the vehicle has already expired since the vehicle has over 70K+ miles. What is the best and cheapest way to add freon to your 2003 Ford Escape?Yes, it sounds like you need more refrigerant ("Freon"). Cheapest way is to do it yourself. Go to auto parts store, they will sell to you a kit, and explain to you how it works. There will also probably be an instruction book inside of it, to show you how. It's not very hard, and a heck of a lot cheaper than having a pro do it. Even then, it's not that expensive, unless the "pro" tries to rip you off, by saying you got a leak, and charging you for stuff you don't really need. It is normal for loss of some refrigerant over a long amount of time, but so many so called "pro's" are con artists, and can rip you off, so be careful and shop around for an honest one. What is the best and cheapest way to add freon to your 2003 Ford Escape?
go to your local auto shop, you have to be certified to put freon in the air conditiong systemWhat is the best and cheapest way to add freon to your 2003 Ford Escape?Recently i went to a Walmart. They have a kit with a pressure gauge built onto the refrigerant container.. Its pretty idiot proof and only costs about 20 dollarsWhat is the best and cheapest way to add freon to your 2003 Ford Escape?

They range from $20-$45 and are very easy to do. I did my truck 2 weeks ago. It took about 10 minutes and cost $28 from Pep BoysWhat is the best and cheapest way to add freon to your 2003 Ford Escape?
