What is the clicking in my ford van steering column?

I have a 97 Ford E-250 cargo van with 100k miles on it. Since it's purchase the sterring upon turning has had a clicking or poping niose. It's more of a vibration than a noise and, it is not coming from the front end. I was thinking that perhaps a column bushing is progressively wearing out?What is the clicking in my ford van steering column?could be your rag joint just below where the steering rod comes through the fire wall, it wil be a round rubber piece that connects the two ends of your steering shaft.
