What services do I need on my Ford Explorer to make it run like new? And how much will it all cost?

I own a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT and I'd really like to have it serviced and make it run like new. Here are the issues I'm having (I'm not very informed about automobiles, so bear with me please):

- When I turn on the truck, in takes about 3-5 seconds. It sounds like it is stuggling a lot to turn on. Also, it squeaks when it finally turns on.

- When I begin to accelerate, the squeaking starts again, and the battery gauge lowers. However, when I turn off my A/C the squeaking stops and the battery gauge rises back to normal.

- When I accelerate, I hear a clanking sound.

- Acceleration sucks.

- It's getting about 10-11 miles to the gallon.

- Every pothole feels like I just crashed. I can feel every single bump on the road. It's a rough ride these days.

- My door (driver's) doesn't lock anymore. The other doors lock, but mine just goes down and stays unlocked. In other words, it looks as if it's locked, but it isn't.

- It's really wasting a lot of gas. What services do I need on my Ford Explorer to make it run like new? And how much will it all cost? You have quite a list here. The only thing I can tell you is that it will cost a lot of dollars. It is hard to know exactly without going over the truck. The suspension needs to be looked at, plus there may be some problem with the AC compressor. I am sure it needs all the filters replaced, fluids replaced, and a tune up. If it means that much to you. Then start on it, one thing at a time. good luck. What services do I need on my Ford Explorer to make it run like new? And how much will it all cost?a chevy...my tahoe gets at least 17mpg and it has a 5.3 V8...you dont have an explorer ...what you have is an exploder........this is typical problems for you vehicleWhat services do I need on my Ford Explorer to make it run like new? And how much will it all cost?you have a bad serpentine belt or the altenator is ready to go... best case, 30 bucks for the belt, worst case 130 for the altenator.

When was the last time you had the oil checked or changed. I'd start there, then I'd go for a new set of plugs, wires, cap and roter.... all that if you do it yourself, should come in under 200 bucks.

Most likely needs a new set of struts and a front end allignment, which is going to cost about 300 bucks..

The lock, most likely is screwed up inside the door, and someones going to have to take the panel off to investigate that.
