How can I tell what stereo my Ford Fusion has?
I bought a 2008 ford fusion sel, and i was curious if it had the upgraded "audiophile" sound system. The system sounds great, i am just wondering.How can I tell what stereo my Ford Fusion has?The models equipped with the Audiophile package will have 6"x9" in the rear deck. Non-Audiophile equipped vehicles will have 6"x8" in the front and rear doors, but no 6"x9" in the rear deck.

If they are Pirelli they are crap. My wife has the SES model . I bought a 1961 Ford unibody that has a 1976 Mustang 302 engine and 3 speed automatic transmission. I would like to replace it with a 4 speed automatic. Any help would be appreciated.What Ford 4 speed automatic transmission will bolt up to a1976 302 engine?The AOD is your best bet, unless you want to start messing around with electronic shift versions (there are controllers available for the AOD-E/4R70W, not sure about the A4LD). Some of these may have had lock-up torque converters, but you can just leave that unplugged if that's the case (they run off the ECM, which a '76 302 ain't got). You'll need one that has the correct bellhousing pattern, which is known as the "Late Windsor". More info in these 2 links. Cross-reference the models at the top of the 1st link with the engines in the 2nd link (right-hand column only), and if it has a 4 speed auto, it should be an AOD.

The side curtains look fine, its the drivers airbag from the seat that I question.

Because the PATS system will not have the PATS codes. So you need to reprogram the PCM and the PATS system in order to start the car. you will need two keys. I do not know how much they will charge U. Yes you will need to go to a dealer, because they have the proper equipment to do the job(I highly recommended). I am 100% positive that this is the correct answer. But is up to you,Can I exchange the PCM in My Ford Focus with the exact same ID used unit? Or will it not start?No problem as long as the PCM is identical - same year, vehicle type and calibration number. You will not require a re-program.

(3) distributors, coil, rotors (if you have them).
(4) new air filter
(5) PCV
(6) correct tire pressure
(7) clear the trunk of useless heavy items
(8) spray clean MAF sensor.

Forget all those "SAVE GAS" scams. This was on NBC morning TV show. The difference is as much as 38% (their claim). There are very simple rules to save gas:
(1) drive slow - not too much past 55
(2) accelerate slowly
(3) don't brake unnecessarily
(4) use cruise control - whenever it is safe to do so.
Don't coast - it is NOT safe (to coast in Nuetral) and it does NOT save gas. It only saves gas, if you are planning to slow down (exiting, tolls, traffic). Coasting then accelerating again is LESS efficient than just cruising.
The above really works. Using those simple rules I was able to drive from Boston to NYC (210.5 miles) on just 5.112 gallon (94 Civic). That's 41 MPG (94 Civic 187K miles). Actually I was speeding at 72 MPH so I could do even better at 55.

I have a 2003 ford explorer and I recently had the transmission rebuilt. When I collected the truck I noticed a small amount of oil/transmission fluild around the black rubber plug on the bell housing on the transmission and upon closer examination I found that the rubber plug was damaged(it had a hole in it). What would cause my new battery in Ford F250 diesel to go dead?
I have a 1992 Ford F250 Diesel pickup. Two weeks ago I replaced both batteries as the old ones were testing bad. The truck cranked and ran fine, showing a positive charge on the in-dash voltmeter. I drove it for several days until the batteries finally went dead. After driving the truck for an hour across town, I killed the engine, and when I tried to start it 5 minutes later, the engine turned over once or twice until it was obvious the battery was completely drained. Any ideas? When I was working as a mechanic we used to find that probably 50% or more of the batteries that were replaced by the owner were fine and that the scenario you described happened to them.
So first I would check the cables to make sure they are clean and tight. This includes the connections to the alternator, I would imagine the regulator is internal on the alternator but I am not sure. Then I would check the alternator output. The problem is that they voltage may be OK but the amperage may be too low from the alternator. The best way to do this is to have them check it in the car with the engine running under load and no load. First with just the engine running then with all the accessories like lights, A/C radio, etc that load the alternator.
My bet is your alternator is not doing so well. It;s a shame you had to trash two good batteries but if they were older ones it might be just as well. I have seen slipping belts be an issue too, not sure your setup is on your truck. But you don't want to replace the alternator and still have a problem so I would double check all the simple stuff first. If the alternator is easy to get off take it in and have it bench tested which will nail that down yes or no.

Not that you would ever be able to use it. but you would have great top speed. somewhere around 150 to 165 I would think. You off the line would suck, and the car would seem very sluggish until it got up to higher speeds. but that the trade off with top end speed. I tried the 2.76 gear set and it pulled my motor out of it's power band. At 60 mph it would be right at 1600 rpm. The power band for this engine started at 2000rpm. It caused the motor to lug to much. The 3.23 at 60mph was right in my power band at 2,100 rpm. Top end didn't suffer either. It was clocked at 120mph in a quarter mile and was still pulling when i lifted off the gas. It ran low 13's and prob' could have done better it it had less tire spin.oil change tangled dvd

This is the only major problem out of warranty that I have encountered with it. I own a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT and I'd really like to have it serviced and make it run like new. Here are the issues I'm having (I'm not very informed about automobiles, so bear with me please):
- When I turn on the truck, in takes about 3-5 seconds. It sounds like it is stuggling a lot to turn on. Also, it squeaks when it finally turns on.
- When I begin to accelerate, the squeaking starts again, and the battery gauge lowers. However, when I turn off my A/C the squeaking stops and the battery gauge rises back to normal.
- When I accelerate, I hear a clanking sound.
- Acceleration sucks.
- It's getting about 10-11 miles to the gallon.
- Every pothole feels like I just crashed. I can feel every single bump on the road. It's a rough ride these days.

Most likely needs a new set of struts and a front end allignment, which is going to cost about 300 bucks..
The lock, most likely is screwed up inside the door, and someones going to have to take the panel off to investigate that.
- When I turn on the truck, in takes about 3-5 seconds. It sounds like it is stuggling a lot to turn on. Also, it squeaks when it finally turns on.

Unless that's a fluke, I'd say the Aspire is very reliable (as was the Festiva). I own a Geo Metro which so far has given me NO problems. There must be a way to adapt the 2 together. They both have the winning combination of strength and power. Ford and Mopar? I haven't checked PAW or SUMMIT/JEGS yet. Has anyone ever adapted a 460 FORD big block to a MOPAR 727 torque flight transmission?I have not actually done this(good idea by the way) however as an experienced mechanic that loves to customized I was intrigued by your question so I did some consulting to be sure...and if you use the ford starter and fly wheel...a two inch adapter ring that meets both bolt patterns can be fashioned without alot of machine work and then you will need adapter shims for the mounting of flywheel to torque converter...and you should still be able to fashion your cross member quite easily..then hold on to your hat cause you will have a very fast combination my friendHas anyone ever adapted a 460 FORD big block to a MOPAR 727 torque flight transmission?Try advance adapters-they have all kinds of that stuff.

In general with Windsor engines, a cold start problem is choke related. Either check the choke return springs or the level of richness - too far in either direction will make things difficult to start.
The other option is spark. The battery might not hold its charge terribly well, or corroded contacts or cables, or perhaps a deadish alternator, or else the starter itself i jiggered.

How much can I expect to pay a body shop to replace my door hinge on a 94 Ford Explorer. The door is sagging and is now misaligned so much that it wont shut without lifting up the door. I was going to try and repair the door myself but it requires grinding off the old hinge bolt bushings and removing the door (which is heavy and not a one man job). I have a 2000 ford F150 with the 5.4 Triton engine. It is approaching 100,000 miles and I am replacing the plugs and coils. Is there a solution or advice on how to prevent the spark plugs from blasting out at a later date? I'd be interested in knowing where you read this, and whether or not they found the reason. My guess would be they weren't properly torqued because they're hard to get at. A wobble-drive extension or 2 helps a lot. I've heard some people say you have to take the fuel rail off to get at them. But they just don't know any better.

Same experience with 2002 F-250 5.4 Triton. Ford 4.6 and 5.4 are notorious with only 5 threads in the aluminum head, the fix, remove plugs, clean carbon from threads and re torque to factory specs.
I have put Autolite plugs in many of these engines and haven't ever had a problem. If they are properly tightened then you shouldn't have a problem either.

I have a 2003 ford explorer and I recently had the transmission rebuilt. When I collected the truck I noticed a small amount of oil/transmission fluild around the black rubber plug on the bell housing on the transmission and upon closer examination I found that the rubber plug was damaged(it had a hole in it). Should I be concerned? I have a 2003 Ford Expedition, and my truck takes a couple of turns of the ignition key before it starts. Also, it recently just started to turn off while driving. Are these the signs of our fuel pump going out or is it something else? Also, the relay switch board seems to get really hot. I am not to sure if that is natural, but its really hot to the touch. I've got the stands and spring compresser if needed, and undoing the ball joint from the spindle doesn't look like much of a problem. I have to do this in my driveway while battling the Canadian winter. I really just want to know if there's an easy way to pop the old ball joint out, and then press the new one back in without having to remove the control arm or using specialty tools.

Try looking in the freeads paper, there are lots of cars for sale, but make sure it is a private sale, these are normally cheaper then dealers / sales - there likely to rip you off something stupid. Good luck
