What is the heater hose dimension on a 1995 Ford Aerostar minivan?

What is the heater hose dimention on a 1995 Ford Aerostar minivan. Either 5/8 or 1/2". And what is the purpose of the EZ-Disconnect in the middle of the hose? I am wanting to change the heater hose since it is leaking but Ford no longer makes that paert (hose) with the machined fittings, so I am wondering if I just replace the entier hose from Heater core to Block, if that will be ok? Remove the hose and cut it straight across, measure the inside,
