With the engine running My Ford Explorer will no longer accelerate. What could the problem be?

2004 Ford Explorer with V6. This truck has no accelerator cable. It is electronic. The accelerator stopped working while driving. The engine stayed idling after pulling off the road. When i turned the engine off it would not start. With the engine running My Ford Explorer will no longer accelerate. What could the problem be?soundfs like computer problemsWith the engine running My Ford Explorer will no longer accelerate. What could the problem be?If the car would not start meaning it would not crank over I think your alternator died and the car didn't have enough power to keep running and when you wanted to restart it there was no power. Change the battery get it running and have the alternator checked.

If its cranking over your fuel pump might have died. turn the key just to the point where the light on the dash come on and listen for a 1 second wine thats the pump priming.
