What type of Freon does a 1995 Ford Explorer use, and where is the valve to refill it located?

I have a 1995 Ford Explorer. I keep getting two different answers from the web. Some say it uses R12, which they don't sell anymore, others say it uses R134a which you can buy and recharge yourself. Without being able to point it out to you, you will not know. There are two lines, a high side and a low side, you would have to decipher which one it is.
