How to set up additional computer to access Dell True mobile 2300?

I have 2 computers with Windows XP Professional. The main computer has the Dell Truemobile 2300 Router connected through LAN. The other computer in my daughters room can access the Router by wireless adapter but when I set up the Router for secure wireless system using WEP, I can no longer access router from daughters computer. How do I set up my daughters computer to be able to access router? How to set up additional computer to access Dell True mobile 2300?Hello,

My name is Mike, I鈥檓 a Technical Analyst at Dell corporate headquarters in Round Rock, TX. I鈥檓 part of an internet outreach team developed to interact with the online community regarding technical questions and issues that customers face with Dell products. I read your question and wanted to chime in.

In order for the system to connect wirelessly using encryption you need to set up the wireless client (your daughter鈥檚 notebook) to have the same SSID, and WEP key. It's best to start out trying a 10 digit key as opposed to the passphrase... for some reason the keys (numerical) seem to take better then a phrase. You must enable this security on your daughter鈥檚 wireless card, through its software when joining the network (it will ask for the SSID (network broadcast name) and any encryption (which you'll select either 64 or 128bit for WEP) and then the corresponding key for that network (your 10 digit numerical code))

The important part is that the information must be set up EXACTLY the same as the routers key information. Encryption type, key type, key length, network name鈥?it all must match. On a different note, I just wanted to drop some reading material about WEP and its vulnerabilities in today鈥檚 wireless environments. I always suggest this reading to anyone asking for help with wireless security: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,127鈥?/a> And http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using鈥?/a>

I hope this is helpful, and good luck!

Thank you,
