What type of file do you save a driver download from Dell?

I had to do a Total Recovery of my Dell 1525 Inspiron and now I don't have any sound. The driver cd installation disk has been used by I still have items showing with "yellow ?'s" on my device manager. It will not update the drivers and I have tried to download the drivers from the Dell website and have saved them into a file but my OS tells me it doesn't have the necessary hardware to run it. HELP!!!What type of file do you save a driver download from Dell?If you couldn't find it on Dell site easy, you could try a program I use. It automatically updates your drivers, saves me a lot of time and frustration. Take a look here for those drivers.
