Okay, so my boyfriend is filipino, and recently moved to the Philippines. He really wants me to learn tagalog, but I'm totally clueless because I'm american, and I know nothing on the language lol. I want to surprise him, and write him a letter in his language...But I don't know any accurate translators online :/ does anyone know any ? And does anyone know specifically how to say "You are my sunshine." ? I looked it up and it said "Ikaw ay aking liwanag ng araw." But I am not sure if it is correct. Help please (:How Do I Say This In Filipino?
you can just say "ikaw ang linwanag ko" :))
no need for the "ang araw" stuff.
If you take it the literal way, it's correct. However, I think what you really mean is "Ikaw ang liwanag ng aking buhay," which is also equivalent to "You are the light of my life."
I suggest you to refrain from idiomatic expressions, because translators, naturally, post the literal meaning. Raining cats and dogs would mean "umuulan ng mga pusa't aso," for instance. Keep your letter as literal as possible to avoid having your meaning diverted. Good luck with the letter. How Do I Say This In Filipino?
whaddup im proud to be pinoy. that's a word per word direct translation
"ikaw ang nagbibigay ng liwanag sa aking pinakamadilim na gabi"
i changed it cause sweet lines in english are not so sweet in filipino
so i changed it to you give light on my darkest night
but if you want 'you are my sunshine' then "ikaw ang aking liwanag" is fine take out 'ng araw' its like saying youre my sunshine from the sun
alyssa, my tagalog is basic words only but i will translate for you. "ikaw ang nagbibigay ng liwanag sa buhay ko" in english its kinda like you are the sunshine of my life (remember song?). ewwww i am so romantic and corny. How Do I Say This In Filipino?

"Ikaw ay aking liwanag ng araw" your right!
correct....you're so sweet..hehe
why you need tagalog... write what you know... simple as that my dear... love is simple and very delicate... what if he knows that you did it from others... it will not be from your my dear.. he need you real heart and love... not that man made love ... so wirte just simple letters and with love... if you are married then you are a nice life partners.. GOD wants real family life and a serious relationship... not just sexual love or others written letter... take care and God bless you... read the rest also and care with God's word... see you in heaven....
God's word forbids sexual relationships outside marriage.
Hebrews 13:4 - Marriage is honorable and the sexual relationship (the "bed") is undefiled only within marriage. Note that the sexual union is not inherently evil. But the passage defines "fornication" and "adultery" to be sexual union ("the bed") outside marriage. God will judge such conduct.
Revelation 21:8; 22:14,15 - Fornicators are among those who will not enter heaven but will be in the lake of fire.
1 Corinthians 7:2-4 - To avoid fornication, one should satisfy the sexual desire only with "his own wife" or "husband." God expressly confirms that marriage companions must be of the opposite gender and that each may satisfy sexual desires only with his/her marital companion.
So, marriage is the authorized relationship for satisfying the need for lifetime companionship and for sexual affection. But it involves one man with one woman with a lifetime commitment. Only that relationship is honorable by God's decree.
God says sexual relations before or outside marriage are wrong, no matter how much we care for the other person. These passages should settle the issue. But sometimes God gives additional reasons for His decrees. Consider additional reasons He gives for saving ourselves for our marriage companion.
